How Many Wedding Dance Lessons Do We Need?
Most couples need three to five wedding dance lessons, but the right number depends on your confidence, goals, song and time available to practise.
Most couples need three to five one-hour wedding dance lessons to prepare a comfortable, polished first dance. That is a useful starting point rather than a rule: a couple wanting a relaxed, natural dance may need fewer lessons, while a detailed routine with musical highlights, dips or multiple song sections may take longer.
What changes the number of lessons?
Your starting confidence matters, but previous dance experience is not essential. The biggest factors are usually the complexity of your goal, how soon the wedding is, and how consistently you can practise together between lessons.
- One lesson: ideal for learning basic movement, getting comfortable together or receiving professional direction before practising independently.
- Three lessons: a strong option for creating a simple personalised routine with an entrance, several reliable movements and a confident finish.
- Five lessons: gives you more time to refine transitions, musical timing and presentation while allowing the routine to settle into muscle memory.
Start with one lesson
If you are uncertain, book a single lesson first. Kristi can see how you move together, discuss the result you want and recommend a realistic plan. You can then upgrade to a package without committing blindly.
The aim is not to squeeze in the greatest possible number of steps. It is to create a first dance you can enjoy without counting every beat or worrying about what comes next.
